Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), formally the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and known colloquially as Obamacare, is comprehensive healthcare reform legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama in March 2010.

The legislation includes healthcare provisions, which began being implemented in 2010 with the intention of making insurance coverage more accessible to uninsured Americans, lowering costs, and eliminating denial of coverage due to pre-existing conditions.
