Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital, located in Nashville, Tennessee, offers comprehensive, age-appropriate care for adults ages 18–64 and seniors age 65 and older who are experiencing symptoms of mental health disorders and addiction. We treat behavioral health concerns such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and substance use disorders. Our compassionate staff members, including psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, professional therapists, licensed social workers, mental health technicians and registered nurses, are ready to serve patients in our detoxification, inpatient or intensive outpatient programs. In our inpatient program, which has an average length of stay of five to seven days, patients will discover a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can improve their health and achieve their personal treatment goals. We work with patients to create unique, personalized treatment plans that may include individual therapy, group therapy (e.g. process and psychoeducational groups), family sessions and experiential therapies (e.g. art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness and guided meditation). We also have dietitians and general practitioners available to help patients manage their medication and improve their physical health. At Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital, patients can also participate in our intensive outpatient program (IOP), known as Stepping Stones. Here, patients spend three days a week benefitting from many of our therapies in a relaxed, group setting that allows them to continue engaging in activities at home when treatment is not in session. Treatment may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care and other approaches as needed. After completing a thorough assessment of a patient’s history and current needs, we will determine the best level of care for them.
