Accreditation Matters

The National Association and Jaywalker Lodge were highlighted on June 27, 2016 in an article about accreditation of addiction treatment facilities in Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Weekly (ADAW). I am prompted to say a few words about that.

Accreditation matters. While no single factor is dispositive of high quality care, accreditation is strong indicia of such. When considered in conjunction with other factors a center might include in its prospectus, such as quality of staff, comprehensive programming, and years in operation, accreditation gives a consumer valuable information with which to assess options.

Our consumer base needs and deservers that. We all do.

NAATP encourages accreditation. The process of going through a "best practices audit" is in itself a mechanism for program improvement. It demonstrates a commitment to quality and transparency.

Approximately half of NAATP Provider Members are now accredited by either CARFThe Joint Commission or other recognized body, and that number is growing. NAATP Provider Members who are accredited are highlighted as "Accredited NAATP Members" in the Addiction Industry Directory (AID).
