Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international, non-professional, mutual-aid fellowship open to anyone with a desire to stop drinking. AA is not allied with any group, organization, or institution.  AA was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, OH, and is the original 12-step fellowship.
