The James W. West, MD, Quality Improvement Award was given to two recipients in 2015, one of which was Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC), Houston, TX, www.parc.memorialhermann.org. PaRC is recognized for its development and delivery of its program: Pain & Addiction: Blending Treatment for Better Outcomes. PaRC’s 2015 quality improvement report demonstrates the program’s success through outcomes measures including elimination of narcotic medications, number of surgeries, time off of work, overall pain profile, conditioning, activities of daily living, negative affect, mobility, and vitality.
