Senate Unveils Health Care Reform Bill
Today the United States Senate revealed details of the health care reform bill they have been privately working on for months. Senate leadership has decided to use a procedure that does not allow for a filibuster, so they can pass this bill with only 50 votes.

US Senate Republicans have recently determined they will attempt to pass their version of a health care reform bill. The House of Representatives passed its version several weeks ago.

House Passes Health Care Reform Bill
By the slimmest of margins the U.S. House of Representatives today passed legislation reforming the Affordable Care Act. It now moves to the Senate.
The National Association is pleased to welcome Peter Thomas as our Membership Manager. Mr. Thomas joined the NAATP staff at the national office in Denver this week following his tenure as Executive Director of Chapter 5 Treatment Center in Prescott, Arizona. Mr. Thomas will be responsible for member services, retention, and acquisition.
Since the Trump Administration health care revision bill failed to achieve enough votes for passage, Congress and the Administration has continued to work on an alternative that could gain enough support to pass in the House of Representatives.

2016: A Year of Progress & Positioning
Today President Obama signed the 21st Century CURES Bill. In a White House ceremony, the President lauded the progress this bill reflects on a range of diseases including SUD. It provides $1 billion over the next two years for states to address the opioid misuse and overdose crisis facing America. The bill passed the House by a 392-26 vote, and the Senate 94-5.
