As we start 2019 and reflect on The National Associations 2018 successes, we are grateful and hopeful. We are pleased to highlight our accomplishments and growth from last year.

Last evening the United States Senate confirmed acting ONDCP Director, Jim Carroll to the position. He became the first permanent director in nearly two years.

While Director Carroll has not had extensive experience in this field, the White House said Carroll “has extensive leadership experience making him eminently qualified to lead the office.”

Having rounded the corner on our first calendar year of operation, our community has grown in to a thriving and diverse group. While the mission – providing a bridge to college in recovery – remains at the core of our spirit, those who come seeking this community vary. Residents are at different stages of their recovery process and, thus, different stages of readiness for an academic setting.

2018 has provided plenty of opportunity for substance use disorder treatment providers across the country to reflect on their missions. For Futures, we collectively reflected on our purpose and how we communicate that to our professional network, the general public, and industry oversight groups – specifically, the Joint Commission, LegitScript, and NAATP.

Today, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced new flexibility for states wishing to expand the limits contained in the IMD exclusion for Medicaid patients. Existing policy limited Medicaid funding for long-term mental health and substance use disorder treatment in inpatient settings.

In the wake of the devastation caused by the California Wild Fires, NAATP is working on reaching out to all of our members in the impacted areas.  The National Association wants to identify treatment facilities needing support in response to damage due to the fires.  Within our membership, there are resources to help patients and staff at centers that have been impacted

The mid-term election is now history. Once again, the American People have given us divided government. NAATP congratulates the winners in last night’s election.

Maryland Addiction Recovery Centers is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Caron Treatment Centers for the treatment of substance use disorders.

Yesterday the President signed HR 6, the bi-partisan Opioid legislation Congress has been working on most of 2018. The legislative package contained over 120 separate bills and was supported by both sides of the political aisle.

(CAMDEN, NJ) – Cooper University Health Care and Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS), which operates addiction and substance abuse treatment centers in five states, announced the joining of forces to form a partnership to provide addiction recovery services to patients in the region.

As the Texas Hill Country experienced widespread river flooding in mid-October, La Hacienda took extraordinary measures to maintain top levels of care for its patients.
