It has been nearly four weeks since the World Health Organization declared Coronavirus a worldwide pandemic. In that period of time, our world, our country, and our addiction treatment community was made to adapt to an environment we have never before seen nor envisioned. It is necessary to acknowledge that the pandemic is devastating and will have a lasting impact.

The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers has been working with like-minded organizations on a proposal to Congress to assist SUD Treatment Providers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We encourage our members, who might qualify, to apply for the Small Business Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

In 2018 Congress passed the “Support for Patients and Communities Act.” It contained a number of items supported and promoted by the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers.

Essential Programs, Pinnacle Treatment Centers Facilities Remain Open During Coronavirus Pandemic

The Senate is working to finalize its proposal to assist American businesses during the crisis. In the initial proposal, the only industry singled out for direct assistance was the airlines industry.

The COVID-19 crisis has obviously disrupted all aspects of life in America and around the world. NAATP members are individually and professionally impacted in dramatic ways.

We all experienced a dramatic shift in the past 48 hours regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with the World Health Organization (WHO) classifying COVID-19 as a pandemic and our Centers for Disease Control (CDC) instituting a more aggressive response. As a result, we are seeing more government and private agency event cancellations and heightened provider concerns.

While the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers closely monitors legislative and regulatory activity at the national level, there are situations when we also comment on state legislative activity, such as when it sets a precedent or violates NAATP policy.

As information and misinformation circulate regarding the Coronavirus, we are writing to provide some general guidance and link our treatment provider community together as we all work through this matter.
