Social media is a uniquely connective, enjoyable aspect of adolescent development—and it can also be dangerously normative, leading to mental health concerns and bullying. In this webinar, we'll cover how to do a digital check-in with adolescents, and review the indications of negative social media–related issues, based on the Surgeon General's 2023 recommendations. Dr. Stein will also share resources for families and strategies to help teens expand their awareness around the potential impacts of frequent social media use.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe why a digital check-in should be part of every teen mental health screening
  • Recognize indications for care based on the Surgeon General’s recommendations
  • Identify interventions to help teens expand their awareness of their social media use and protect themselves from its potential negative impacts
