Join Peter Thomas NAATP Director of Quality Assurance, Charles Odell CEO & President of Dilworth Center and NAATP Board Member, along with Nicholas Hayes Chief Science Officer, Cumberland Heights in a discussion of challenges and solutions in Addiction Treatment Marketing. 

The panel will explore how problematic advertising, and unethical practices impact the reputation of providers and threaten access to quality care. Participants will learn about NAATP’s policies, reporting systems, and member resources designed to help organizations respond quickly and effectively to concerning practices while strengthening their own ethical standards. 

This interactive discussion will equip providers with actionable strategies to safeguard their brand, reinforce integrity in marketing, and leverage NAATP tools to protect both patients and the profession as a whole.

Presenters:
Peter Thomas, Charles Odell, Nick Hayes PhD

Peter Thomas is the Director of Quality Assurance for the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) ensuring the quality of membership and services. Peter has been working in the field since 2011, and has held roles in direct patient care, administration and executive leadership. Prior to accepting a role with NAATP, Peter worked as the Chief Operating Officer for Chapter 5 Counseling Center. 

Peter has dedicated much of his time to working with industry representatives and legislators to enhance access to quality behavioral health care in Arizona. He has served as President for the Northern Arizona Recovery Association, (NARA) and co-founded the Arizona Addiction Advocacy Coalition (AAAC). Through these roles Peter assisted in drafting and passage of state legislation protecting addiction treatment consumers while also enhancing the efficacy and reputation of providers. 


Charles Odell, MSW, MAC, LCAS has worked in the field of substance use disorder treatment since 1983. Mr. Odell is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Dilworth Center where he has worked since 1995. Dilworth Center is a private, non-profit organization providing substance use disorder treatment programs for adults, young adults and adolescents.

Mr. Odell received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is Master Addiction Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. Mr. Odell serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers as well as their Ethics Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Jonnie McLeod Institute on Substance Abuse at UNC-Charlotte and is an Adjunct Instructor at UNC-Chapel Hill.


Dr. Nick Hayes brings over a decade of experience in behavioral health. As Chief Science Officer at Cumberland Heights, he leads our efforts in research, quality improvement, technology integration, and marketing strategy. 

Nick’s academic work focuses on measurement-based care, digital phenotyping, and intensive longitudinal monitoring—cutting-edge methods that help clinicians tailor treatment and improve patient outcomes. Under his guidance, Cumberland Heights has strengthened its reputation for offering outcomes-driven, evidence-based addiction care. 

Nick earned his PhD in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University and serves as adjunct professor of psychology at Lipscomb University. His combined clinical and research expertise helps bridge data and compassion in treatment, placing patients at the center of measurable, meaningful recovery
