About half of Gen Z feel pressure to get a "summer body," and they often turn to fad diets as a result. This presentation explores current dieting trends among adolescents and young adults, focusing on the influence of diet culture and social media on body image. The presenters will equip clinicians to navigate these issues with young people and educate parents.

- Evaluate current dieting trends and their clinical implications, including the physical and psychological risks 

- Explain how to help adolescents and young adults fact-check fad diets using evidence-based resources

Kara Becker, LMFT, CEDS-C

As Newport's National Director of Eating Disorder Programs, Kara leads the growth and development of evidence-based treatment initiatives across our nationwide programs. An AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant, she has directed multiple residential and outpatient programs focused on eating disorder recovery and mental health. 

 

Annaliese DiFabbio, RD, CEDS-C

Annaliese is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant, and Certified Personal Trainer. She serves as Nutrition Manager for Newport Healthcare's adolescent eating disorder programs, helping clients rebuild a healthy relationship with food while addressing the underlying psychological and behavioral factors that sustain disordered eating.
