Join us for a virtual tour of our outpatient program for ages 7–11, and learn more about our family-focused treatment for children, followed by a CE Webinar with Newport's Chief Experience Officer.
Join us to explore new research on the pre-teen/adolescent brain, the development of the prefrontal cortex, and the importance of increasing creative expression during this stage of life. We will also look at the ways that behavioral health professionals can promote creativity to support a young person’s “job” of finding their identity, establishing their beliefs, and questioning authority.
After attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Identify stages of pre-teen/adolescent brain development and describe the impact of brain development on creative expression during this period.
- Define and discuss the “jobs” of pre-teens/teenagers based on play and creativity models.
- Prepare and use classroom-based activities that can help promote an environment of creativity and tap into students’ strengths, passions, and expertise.
Kristin is Newport Healthcare’s Chief Experience Officer. She’s passionate about the integration of experiential care in the treatment milieu to address the myriad of stressors that today’s teens face. Kristin has been working in the treatment field since 1997, in a variety of mental health treatment settings, including inpatient, residential, and outpatient levels of care. She holds a Master’s in psychology and Creative Arts Therapies, and is a certified yoga teacher.
