Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming embedded in mental healthcare, and people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are turning to AI-based tools for support, information and symptom management. While AI can potentially enhance psychoeducation, treatment planning, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, it also introduces significant risks. This presentation examines the evolving role of AI in OCD treatment through a clinical, ethical, and practical lens.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Apply ethical and clinical guidelines for addressing AI use within OCD assessment, treatment planning, and exposure development
- Identify clinical risks associated with AI-based reassurance-seeking and its impact on symptom maintenance and treatment interference
- Evaluate the potential benefits and limitations of AI as an adjunctive tool in evidence-based OCD treatment
