Many providers of addiction and recovery services who are eager to promote health equity, establish a more diverse staff and client base, and develop more inclusive work and clinical environments, are not familiar with the multitude of resources available in this process.

Membership organizations survive on dues. Without them, they die — and so does the advocacy they provide. Another name for advocacy — public policy — underscores the “public” aspect of treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs). And the primary membership organization for private treatment providers is now expanding its categories to include the importance of “equity” in treatment.
I have found that most Addiction Treatment Providers are amazing at what they do. They are specifically focused on the health and wellness of people in need of help to overcome their personal demons that have consumed their lives. It is admirable how each person in the industry has dedicated themselves to this pursuit.
It’s the black hole of addiction care—the vexing void. Talk to treatment experts for long enough, and you’ll inevitably reach the heart of the matter: They’re handicapped by the space’s lack of standardized data.
Imagine if there was a health crisis of epidemic proportions that was taking place right now in our country, and that, so very fortunately, there was a scientifically proven solution that would help save lives. Federal and state agencies provided free prevention of the disease, and the medical community rallied to find the best treatments.
