Each year, about this time, we come together as a national community of addiction treatment providers and supporters dedicated to a common proposition: Recovery for All. That is, in fact, the Vision Statement for our National Association and it will be the focus of our three days together in just over a week at the NAATP 47th Annual Addiction Treatment Leadership Conference.
NAATP National 2026 will take place at Amelia Island, FL, May 4-6, with the theme Future Proofing Treatment: Technology in a People Centered Workplace. I do not think it is hyperbole to suggest that our workplace, indeed our society, is at the cusp of an historic Before and After moment; what it was like before the technology of artificial intelligence and what it will be like after. The technology is profound and daunting and it is too much to manage alone. So we come together, as we have as a professional society for five decades, first to understand the nature of the thing, but moreover to find our center with it and create a value system within which we operate in the collective best interests of our profession and those whom we serve.
Our conference will begin, as is tradition, with Opening Night at NAATP when we gather together for dinner with colleagues and celebrate our finest with the presentation of the NAATP Addiction Treatment Leadership Awards. The following morning our Board Chair will call the Annual Meeting to order and I will have the privilege of presenting our State of the Association and Industry Address. Following the Keynote Address by health-care strategist Mark Johnson titled Future Back Strategy, NAATP members and conference guests will take part in a series of Panel Sessions, Training Sessions, and new this year, NAATP Talks. We will also give time for the connection and relationship building that is a hallmark of NAATP meetings with special events: The NAATP PAC Golf Tournament, C-Suite Lunch, Women in Leadership Lunch, and a Mix, Mingle, and Learn Reception where members describe the NAATP Value Proposition that sustains our work together.

Regarding that work, I was privileged recently to be the guest of a video podcast that is substantively related to NAATP’s history, mission, objectives and value in anticipation of the conference. Hosted by our colleagues at Snapshot MasterMined who will be broadcasting from the conference, it was a uniquely candid discussion of our work as we come together and we want to share it with you here.
