Marvin Ventrell is the new Executive Director of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP). NAATP, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is a national professional membership association of addiction treatment providers. NAATP serves its 300 member treatment programs and 600 treatment sites in the United States by providing education, training, and networking. NAATP works to ensure that addiction treatment programs provide best practices in the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction and promotes high ethical standards in the marketing and delivery of treatment services. NAATP also serves as an advocacy voice in federal and state law and policy-making through the NAATP PAC.
Mr. Ventrell's Experience
Mr. Ventrell became the Director at NAATP in 2015 following a 30-year career as a lawyer, a professional association director, and a treatment center business and program director.While CEO of the National Association of Counsel for Children from 1994-2008, Mr. Ventrell grew to national prominence as an advocate for family health and welfare systems through his program development expertise, scholarship, and teaching. Mr. Ventrell is the author if numerous professional journal articles, book chapters, and books. His 2014 series in Addiction Professional Magazine chronicles the legalization of marijuana in Colorado through the passage of the law to distribution to the social, economic, and health impacts of marijuana use and legalization.
He is the recipient of numerous distinctions in the human services including the National Child Advocacy Award from the American Bar Association and the Kempe Award from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Mr. Ventrell has lectured at dozens of universities, law schools, medical schools, professional organizations, and state and federal agencies throughout the US and abroad.
NAATP Director's Responsibilities
Mr. Ventrell is responsible for all association administration and program. He serves on numerous boards and committees and is the NAATP Representative to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). He is, himself, a proud and vocal member of the addiction recovery community.
