For many years, addiction treatment providers have operated without access to clear and comparable reimbursement data. Rates have varied significantly across insurers, regions, and levels of care, making it difficult for treatment organizations to evaluate the fairness of their contracts or advocate for sustainable reimbursement. The new benchmark report addresses this longstanding challenge by translating complex insurer data into a clear and practical resource designed for provider use.

Developed in partnership with Third Horizon, a specialty advisory firm with expertise in behavioral health analytics and market dynamics, the report draws from the largest dataset of its kind. The analysis includes negotiated rates from more than 8,300 providers across four major national insurer networks. It offers insight across key ASAM Levels of Care including withdrawal management, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, and hospital-based services.

As the first report of its kind, it outlines average reimbursement rates, the most common contracted rates, and the highest negotiated rates observed. Providers now have access to this information in a usable and practical format.

To support this release, NAATP has also published a short video message from CEO Marvin Ventrell, highlighting the importance of this resource and how providers can use the information to strengthen their financial and operational planning.

NAATP members can use the benchmark report to support reimbursement planning, strengthen contract negotiations, assess financial sustainability, and better understand current market conditions. This resource represents a significant advancement in NAATP’s work to improve transparency, support provider operations, and enhance access to high-quality addiction treatment.
