The Refuge, A Healing Place Accredited

At The Refuge, A Healing Place, adults age 18 and older can receive traditional and experiential treatments to address addictions, the effects of trauma, and various co-occurring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and self-defeating behaviors. Our serene and secluded location on over 90 acres of land in the Ocala National Forest in Ocklawaha, Florida, offers the perfect setting to begin your journey toward holistic health. When you arrive at The Refuge, our experienced staff will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan focusing on comprehensive physical, spiritual, and emotional healing. We offer several programs across multiple levels of care, including detoxification services, residential treatment, relapse prevention, and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). We’ve created trauma-focused programs specifically for military personnel, first responders, and adults who are experiencing symptoms of an eating disorder. You may learn more about emotional regulation, distress tolerance, nutrition, and self-esteem building in these programs. In our residential program, knowledgeable and compassionate therapists and clinicians can lead you in individual and group therapy exercises using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques. Our trained doctors can help you manage medication that you may be taking during your stay. You might also take part in family support groups and 12-Step meetings. In addition to traditional methods, we have also seen patients thrive while engaged in experiential treatment modalities. We provide opportunities for you to receive therapeutic interventions such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), equine therapy, and expressive art therapy. To foster the mind-body connection, we may also teach you techniques of yoga, meditation, and breathwork. Specialized assignments to deepen your understanding of the root causes of your symptoms may include creating a body map, putting together a collage, or writing letters.
The Refuge, A Healing Place and its entities are committed to meet the needs of our clients by providing the highest level of quality treatment. Person Centered Care is a driving force behind treatment planning and the delivery of those services.
