ROCKFORD – Rosecrance and the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford are pleased to announce a partnership that is strengthening the Club’s after-school programming by providing positive adult role models and life skills education.
Since January, Rosecrance clinicians have supported after-school activities at the Fairgrounds Club location, at 609 Kilburn Ave., in Rockford. They are leading groups that focus on a variety of topics, such as healthy relationships and stress management techniques.
“Youth sometimes need a little encouragement to navigate the challenges they face growing up, and we are grateful that Rosecrance is willing to help us make an even greater difference in their lives,” said Chip Stoner, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford. “This is the first partnership of its kind for us, and we’re excited to see youth benefit from the friendly, knowledgeable Rosecrance staff.”
The after-school program reaches more than 40 members ages five to 18 each evening. While participating in the Club’s robust education, recreation, arts, health and wellness, workforce readiness, and character and leadership courses, adolescents interact with Rosecrance staff who assist with classes and social-emotional learning. In addition, clinicians build relationships with youth and can provide further resources in a safe, welcoming environment.
“With our history in serving Rockford’s youth, this is an excellent innovative next step furthering that legacy,” said Rosecrance Regional President Carlene Cardosi. “We are honored to join with the Boys & Girls Club in serving the community in such a positive way.”
The Rockford Boys & Girls Club touches the lives of over 3,500 youth each year at five clubs and three school sites throughout the region. Founded in 1908, educational and recreational programs set club members on the path to achieving life, academic, and career goals.
Rosecrance has championed hope through youth services for over 100 years. The organization serves approximately 14,000 adolescents each year at locations in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. In Rockford, Rosecrance provides evidence-based residential treatment through the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson
Campus, and a variety of outpatient services through Rockford Public Schools and at several locations in the community.
