Recovery Movie Meet-Ups featured on CBS News

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- NAATP member Recovery Movie Meetup’s work with Above and Beyond Family Recovery Services in Chicago was recently profiled on CBS News. In it, RECOVERY MOVIE MEET-UPs’ Founder and CEO Ted Perkins explains how a personal challenge to view 100 movies about addiction and recovery in 100 days to help overcome his own alcohol issues resulted in an innovative new mutual support program currently being adopted by treatment facilities, RCOs, sober homes and correctional facilities across the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK and South Africa.

Recovery Movie Meet-Ups helps treatment facilities, sober homes, and recovery community centers program high-impact mutual support meetings based on watching popular films about addiction and revery and then engage in dynamic and highly therapeutic group discussions guided by the RECOVERY MOVIE MEET-UPs Workbook. A dynamic and simple to program meeting format proven to generate increased participant engagement & interaction, induce emotional arousal, and foster deep self-reevaluation.

Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center is a non-profit outpatient treatment center located in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. Their mission is to provide the highest quality of free, behavioral addiction treatment to anyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Together their patients and clinicians build individualized treatment plans centered around the patient's purpose and meaning in life (Logotherapy) while using powerful, evidence-based tools like Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). Their award-winning program offers thirty unique treatment groups and produces better long-term outcomes than the next leading model for treating substance use disorder (SUD). Their primary goal is to change the way the United States addresses treatment for SUD.
