NAATP Prepares for Trump Administration

NAATP Prepares for Trump Administration
Public Policy Update 11.15.16

The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers has consistently taken a bi-partisan approach to our public affairs efforts. That has been reflected in our communication to members of Congress as well as through our PAC contributions.

We are now engaged in a strategy to effectively interact with a Trump administration. We are developing our own lines of communication and will continue to work with our association partners in the addiction field to clearly communicate the priorities of the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment field.

The NAATP policy statement clearly delineates our position on protecting Parity as well as the residential treatment options contained as essential benefits in the Affordable Care Act. We also will strongly support continued enforcement efforts of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, which was separately passed on a bi-partisan basis and signed by President Bush.

Assuring that those with SUD have access to treatment has never been an easy task. While we understand that there will continue to be many hurdles, we are committed to aggressively representing the best interests of the addiction treatment field.

Direct involvement of NAATP members who are willing to interact with their members of Congress will be a critical element of our success moving forward.

We thank you and appreciate our members' commitment to these goals.
