NAATP Joins Over 300 Organizations Urging Continued Second Chance Act Funding

The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers has joined with more than 330 organizations calling on Congress to sustain funding for programs authorized under the Second Chance Act.

Why It Matters to the Treatment Field

Reentry is a high-risk transition point for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. Second Chance Act programs fund the services that make recovery possible after incarceration, including:

  • Treatment and recovery support
  • Housing and employment services
  • Education and workforce pathways

Proven Results

  • 23% decline in three-year reincarceration rates since 2008
  • 440,000+ individuals served nationwide
  • Programs active across 49 states and U.S. territories

Sustained investment in reentry services is essential to advancing recovery, improving outcomes, and strengthening communities. For treatment providers, these programs extend care beyond discharge and into long-term stability.
