Treating an Epidemic Amid a Pandemic: Virtual Care for Addiction

At the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, Hazelden Betty Ford transitioned more than 1,500 patients into virtual services within one week’s time. Two of the leaders responsible for that historic pivot will share in this free webinar what they learned from the experience, why virtual care for substance use disorders and other mental health issues is here to stay, and how these telehealth services will continue to evolve.

Janelle Wesloh

Janelle Wesloh has worked in the addiction treatment field in various roles for more than 25 years, including addiction counselor, electronic medical record designer and privacy officer. In her leadership role, Wesloh oversees the integration and standardization of clinical operations across Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s national system of care; advances research and design in support of clinical innovation; and directs the organization’s recovery management division which includes online, phone and in-person programs and services.

Brian Couey
Director of Outpatient Services
Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

With both a doctorate and master’s degree in clinical psychology, Brian Couey has provided clinical services and leadership for more than 15 years. Prior to his leadership position with the Betty Ford Center, Couey worked at Valley Women’s Center, Tarzana Treatment Center, Hillview Mental Health Center and the Inter-Agency Drug Abuse Recovery Programs. He is recognized, in particular, for his commitment to community service and his work with underserved populations. Couey frequently provides expert insight on subjects related to addiction and mental health for San Diego television affiliates including ABC, Fox and KUSI.
