Recognizing the unmet need for greater support at the state and regional level, NAATP has developed the State Advocacy Toolkit to support our members in the implementation of effective state legislative advocacy initiatives and development of state hill days. In this webinar, NAATP will present the newly released toolkit, provide an overview of its implementation and associated training materials, including resources for treatment professionals to begin pursuing public policy initiatives within their state.
Mark Dunn, NAATP Director of Public Policy
Mark Dunn represents NAATP in Washington, DC. As policy representative, Mark represents NAATP on Capitol Hill, at the various federal agencies, and with coalition partners. He advises NAATP and the Board on a broad range of public policy issues important to NAATP members. Mark is a partner in Veritas Advisors, a public affairs firm with over 150 years of combined federal government affairs experience.
Nikki Soda, NAATP Membership Development Officer
Nikki Soda is a passionate advocate for recovery, experienced marketer and meeting planner. With over 10 years of nonprofit and corporate meeting planning, she brings an energy and level of professionalism used to create successful outcomes. Prior to working in the healthcare industry, Nikki was an event planner and organized large scale events while working for both corporate and nonprofit organizations. Her background in recovery led her to shifting into the behavioral health field. In the past few years, Nikki has worked in the capacity of Director of both Business Development and Marketing for nationally recognized treatment facilities, as well as overseeing several Alumni programs while being on the board of the Treatment Professionals and Alumni Services. Advocacy and Public Policy are two passions that Nikki continuously puts effort into, through volunteering and community engagement. Nikki holds a BA in Communication from the University of Tampa. Her experience working on both the front end and back end of treatment has given her a wealth of knowledge and has contributed to her understanding of systems within the field of substance use.
Peter Thomas, NAATP Director of Quality Assurance
Peter Thomas is the Director of Quality Assurance for the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) ensuring the quality of membership and services. He brings six years experience working in addiction treatment including roles in direct patient care, administration and executive leadership. Prior to accepting a role with NAATP, Peter worked as the Chief Operating Officer for Chapter 5 Counseling Center. Peter has dedicated much of his time to working with industry representatives and legislators to enhance access to quality behavioral health care in Arizona. He has served as President for the Northern Arizona Recovery Association, (NARA) and co-founded the Arizona Addiction Advocacy Coalition (AAAC). Through these roles Peter assisted in drafting and passage of state legislation protecting addiction treatment consumers while also enhancing the efficacy and reputation of providers.
