Challenges in Treating the High-level Working Professional: Strategies for Counseling This Dynamic Population

AGENDA:
• Special Issues Facing Working Professionals:
This portion will highlight some of the concerns specific to treating working professionals, including work-related trauma, stressful work demands, challenges in balancing work and family, feelings of isolation in high-level professionals, and work addiction.
• Case Conceptualization for Working Professionals:
This portion will explore how factors like personality style, early childhood dynamics, core beliefs, learned behaviors, and societal expectations come together to form a case conceptualization for professional clients.
• Building Rapport with Professional Clients:
High-level professionals may have challenges opening up or feeling understood. This portion will highlight ways to build therapeutic rapport with this population.
• Interventions for Working Professionals:
This portion will present specific interventions using emotionally-focused, psychodynamic, and polyvagal theories.

Presenters: 
Dr. Vassilia Binensztok, PhD, LMHC, NCC, QS and Joanna Borg, M.Ed.

Dr. Vassilia Binensztok, PhD, LMHC, NCC, QS is a licensed and board-certified mental health counselor specializing in the treatment of adults with childhood trauma and anxiety disorders as well as a qualified counselor supervisor. She is the founder and owner of Juno Counseling and Wellness, a private group psychotherapy practice. Employing several therapists, the practice helps a wide array of people, including teens, couples, and children ages two and up. Dr. Binensztok also holds board positions on several human services nonprofits, has taught the graduate level, and authored several counseling-related textbooks and peer-reviewed articles.

Joanna Borg, M.Ed. is a registered mental health counseling intern with expertise working with high-level professionals, couples, and those with compulsive-based disorders. Besides working with couples in distress, Joanna also provides preventative services through premarital therapy and retreats, utilizing the Save Your Marriage Before it Starts assessment and protocol. Additionally, Joanna is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples. Originating from Stockholm, Sweden, Joanna provides therapy in both English and Swedish. Joanna is a member of the American Counseling Association and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
