AKUA Mind & Body combines holistic methods with evidence-based treatments to treat men and women struggling with addiction. AKUA Mind & Body treatment facilities in southern California, the have luxury amenities and offer a full continuum of treatment programs, including Detox, Day Treatment, In-patient Residential, and Intensive Outpatient. AKUA Mind & Body provides clinically supervised, integrated detoxification services.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon intake, clients undergo an initial assessment to help clinicians form an individualized treatment program most appropriate to each client’s needs. Detoxification process is also substance-specific. Along with 12-step integration, clients participate in a range of evidence-based treatment methods, including a weekly individual psychotherapy session, group trauma therapy, family and relationship counseling, mindfulness-based relapse prevention, life skills classes, and gender-specific health lectures. If appropriate, medication assisted treatment is also available.

Along with traditional methods, AKUA Mind & Body integrates a number of holistic treatments into the residential program curriculum. According to the facility’s website, clients participate in weekly music therapy sessions, acupuncture, yoga, tai chi, guided meditation, and qi gong. AKUA Mind & Body also offers nutritional, “brain-healthy” meal plans, and clients participate in exercise regimens, sauna therapy, hydrotherapy, and massage therapy. Upon discharge, many residential clients utilize the program’s sober living facilities and intensive outpatient program as aftercare services.

STAFF CREDENTIALS
Lead by a resident physician highly experienced in addiction treatment, AKUA Mind & Body’s staff is comprised of master’s level addiction, family, and trauma counselors, detoxification specialists, dieticians, musical therapists, and Eastern medicine specialists. Due to the facility’s small size, clients enjoy a relatively low staff-to-client ratio.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
AKUA Mind & Body’s modern residential facility offers an up-scale atmosphere conducive to comfortable recovery. With 49 beds, the Newport Beach location does not offer private lodging, but does feature an exercise facility, on-site pool, and hot tub. Sober living facilities offer semi-private accommodations, and the Newport Beach location provides 10 miles of beaches for surfing, swimming, surfing, and meditation.
